Dear Dr Chalapathi Rao,
Greetings!
Please accept my congratulations for starting stand alone Interventional radiology centre in Panjagutta, Hyderabad.
Interventional Radiology has been in vogue for the last three decades. Dr Charles Dotter was the pioneer and was a consultant at Bellevue Hospital, NY City where I was trained as a resident. Today, interventional radiology is playing a major role as an alternative to surgery. Fluoroscopy, CT, Ultrasound, and MRI guide the target point. Using needles, catheters of a micronature the interventional radiologists can go into the deep areas where surgeons cannot reach.
Dr MV Chalapathi Rao had a special training and is practising interventions for the last one and half decades. He has adequate clinical knowledge, technical skills and most important of all, he is patient friendly. He has performed several procedures at KIMS including Balloon dilatations, embolizations, and laser and radiofrequency ablations for various disorders replacing conventional surgical methods.
India needs ten thousand more radiologists in the next five years and thousand more interventional radiologists to cover the entire population. I do hope that Dr Chalapathi Rao would include a training centre in the same premises for those who wish to practise interventional radiology.
I wish him all the best and hope he would alleviate the suffering of many patients.
With regards
Subbarao Kakarla
