Dr. M. V. Chalapathi Rao is a Senior Interventional Radiologist at Dr Chalapathi Rao’s IR Centre, Hyderabad and visiting consultant to few major corpotare hospitals in Hyderabad.

Till recently he was Head of the Department of Radiology and Interventional Radiologist at Krishna Institute of Medical Sciences(KIMS), Hyderabad.

He did MBBS from Rangaraya Medical College, Kakinada and did M.D.(Radiology) from Guntur Medical College, Guntur. He had worked as a Senior Registrar at Nizam’s Institute of Medical Sciences(NIMS), Hyderabad. He got trained in vascular and neuro interventions at KEM Hospital, Mumbai.

He was recipient of “Young Radiologist of the year” award in 1999 and “Vaidya sree” award in 2012.

He is a pioneer in starting endovenous laser treatment for varicose veins. He was one of the first in the country to start this type of treatment and gained enormous experience. His areas of special interest are interventional oncology , venous interventions and neurovascular interventions.

He had co-authored many articles in indexed journals. Delivered guest lectures in many national and international fora.

He is life member of many national and international radiology and interventional radiology societies. He is a founder member of Musculoskeletal Society, India. Presently he is vice president of Indian Radiological and Imaging Association and Treasurer of Musculoskeletal Society, India.
